When you go to Target as often as many of us parents do — I have to go again today, come to think of it — you end up doing a little snack shopping. But that’s something we can feel good about now, because Target will eliminate all artificial ingredients from all of its in-house kids’ foods by 2018.

A key word in that sentence is “all” — 75 percent of Target’s in-house kids’ foods (sold under the Market Pantry and Simply Balanced brand names) are currently free of artificial flavors, sweeteners, preservatives, colors, trans fats, and high fructose corn syrup. So the fact that every single food item that’s aimed at kids — including new ones like almond butter, granola, and oatmeal cups — is pretty fantastic.

As you know, we’re big on making our kids’ food as healthy as it can be, and it’s awesome when a store like Target, where we shop anyway, is big on it too.
